July 17 (Bloomberg) –- Aston Martin has dropped the price of its 2015 Vantage GT to a $99,900 — an entry-level price for the exclusive car maker. But the Vantage GT may not be available in the United States for long because the car doesn't meet U.S. crash standards. Aston Martin is now asking to be exempt from the rules on the basis of "substantial economic hardship." The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has until September to decide whether to allow the company to continue selling the car. Is it worth grabbing one while you still can?

Look at the Lotus Elise used car prices in the US.
Yeah.

I'd buy one in a heartbeat.
But I'm getting the feeling Aston is really close to going the way Rover and TVR. Their portfolio may be beautiful, but they're also extremely dated under the skin.

I would imagine so. And of course big brother is here to protect us by removing these highly dangerous death traps.

Maybe you didn't hear...they're partnering with AMG...the future is still very bright for them. They aren't going to bother fixing the Vantage for US regs if the NHTSA says no since it's almost ready to die.

No, just that AMG uses a very old school approach to performance.
No replacement for displacement. Lots of torque. Cars that like the kick their asses out.

part of the fun factor of the car is kicking its ass out..hence ppl who like to toss cars like v8s and displacement. Ppl who enjoy carving corners like light nimble cars with modest hp...different strokes for diff folks,.Ppl who like astons tend to be cruise enthusiasts and people who like to look classy but not gawdy or tacky. Going fast is a bonus.

Even the 5.5(?) V8 is huge by German standards.

or you could look at their latest engine, the 4.0L Turbo V8 in the Mercedes-AMG GT, or their 2.0L Turbo 4cyl in the CLA45AMG.

AMG uses displacement, twin turbos AND superchargers. And the mark of a good engine is the ability to make the car it's in kick the ass out at will. Which AMG engines tend to do very well.

Oppo group think, we buy like 10 of these, sit on them if they are no longer able to sell new in usa, and then we sell them for huge profit to rich peoples!
some one front me 99,900 (and im sure like the crazy tax amount with that) so we can do this, (we can take turns driving;)

Perhaps you need to go check out the newer AMG cars...I wouldn't call anything about them old world.

I just think Mercedes as a whole have an old vibe to them. Their cars may be advanced, but they just scream old to me.

I can see that, they have a bit more of a "mature" vibe about them compared to Audi and BMW I guess.
